WELCOME!!

Here comes the shortest month of the year! At this time of year there is always so much to do and so little time. It is a very busy month with lots to learn and many great activities. Teachers are at convention February 4-5th. Students and staff are working hard on the curriculum and also on being physically healthy and active. We are offering families the opportunity to try a 'healthy' fundraiser. Students continue with skiing lessons at Rabbit Hill. What a fabulous way to perfect our skiing skills, be active and enjoy the winter weather. Over the next few months we will focus on the virtue of conscience which emphasizes a person's sense of right and wrong. February is Random Acts of Kindness month. We are encouraging others to show kindness and doing good deeds without expecting anything in return. Students are asked to participate in the MS Readathon to help raise funds for a worthy cause and to improve their reading skills. Four lucky grade six girls are off to the WISEST conference with Mr. Jorgensen. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to see what opportunities await in the field of science! Three more students have been chosen to attend the Young Author's Conference at the end of February. These students will be able to meet real life authors who will share their passion and expertise with writing. There truly is something for everyone this month! Selected students are practicing for the Journal Games at the Butterdome. Good luck to our runners. As we continue with learning at Ministik another great tool has been developed for teachers, students and parents to use. Everyone at EIPS has access to the new virtual library. Be sure to check it out! Details follow further in this newsletter. All parents are invited to the Parent Council meeting at 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 23rd. The AISI math consultant will be there to discuss the math curriculum with us. Amidst all the hustle and bustle, I hope you will have time to enjoy Family Day and Valentine's Day with the ones you love.

- Sincerely, Mrs. Evelyn Gaudet, Principal
